1. About This Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Glasgow GFX ("we," "our," or "us") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
This policy complies with:
- UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)
- Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR)
- EU ePrivacy Directive
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember your actions and preferences (such as login state, cart contents, theme) over a period of time. We also use similar technologies such as browser localStorage, sessionStorage, and tracking pixels — these are covered by this policy too.
We group cookies into three categories: essential, analytics, and marketing. Only essential cookies are set without your consent.
3. Essential Cookies (Always Active)
These cookies are necessary for the website to function. They cannot be switched off. Legal basis: strictly necessary under PECR — no consent required.
| Cookie / Storage | Purpose | Duration | Set By |
|---|---|---|---|
cookie-consent | Stores your cookie preferences | Persistent (localStorage) | Glasgow GFX |
sb-*-auth-token | Keeps you signed in to your account | Up to 1 year | Supabase (our auth provider) |
theme | Remembers your light/dark theme preference | 1 year | Glasgow GFX |
| Cart & checkout storage | Remembers items in your basket between visits | Session / persistent | Glasgow GFX |
__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Fraud prevention during payment | Up to 1 year | Stripe |
4. Analytics Cookies (Optional)
These cookies help us understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it. Legal basis: consent. They are only set if you accept analytics cookies via our banner.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Set By |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes unique visitors | 2 years | Google Analytics 4 |
_ga_* | Stores session state for Google Analytics 4 | 2 years | Google Analytics 4 |
| Ahrefs analytics | First-party SEO analytics, IP anonymised | Up to 1 year | Ahrefs |
IP addresses are anonymised before they reach Google. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising features.
5. Marketing Cookies (Optional)
We do not currently set marketing or advertising cookies. If we add remarketing or conversion-tracking tags (for example Meta Pixel or Google Ads) in the future, they will only fire after you accept marketing cookies in our banner, and this page will be updated.
6. How to Manage Your Cookies
You have several ways to control cookies on this site:
- Cookie banner: When you first visit, you can accept all, accept essential only, or customise per category.
- Change your mind later: Use the link in the footer to re-open the banner at any time.
- Browser controls: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies via their settings. Note that blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site (login, cart, checkout).
- Google Analytics opt-out: Install the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
7. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies are set by third parties we use to deliver core functionality and analytics. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies:
- Stripe Privacy Policy — payment fraud prevention
- Supabase Privacy Policy — authentication and database
- Google Privacy Policy — Google Analytics 4
- Ahrefs Privacy Policy — Ahrefs Web Analytics
- Vercel Privacy Policy — site hosting and Vercel Analytics
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our cookie usage changes. When we make a material change, we will update the "Last Updated" date and may re-prompt you for consent via the banner.
