Legacy System Modernisation, common questions

Straight answers about our legacy system modernisation service.

Will we lose our data when we switch systems?

No, data migration is a core part of every modernisation project. We extract your records from the old system, clean and map them to the new one, and verify the migration against the source before anything is switched off.

Can we keep using the old system while the new one is built?

Yes, and you should. We build the replacement alongside your existing system and cut over in stages, one function at a time, each with a rollback plan, so the business keeps running throughout.

Our original developer is gone and we have no documentation. Can you still help?

This is one of the most common situations we see. We start with a system audit, reading the code and database that exist, mapping what the system actually does, and produce the documentation as part of the project.

Should we modernise the existing system or replace it entirely?

It depends on the state of the code and how far your needs have moved. The system audit answers this: sometimes a focused rebuild of the worst parts is enough; sometimes a clean replacement is cheaper than patching. We recommend whichever costs you less over five years, not whichever is the bigger project.

What does the design process look like?

We start with a brief to understand your goals, then move through research, wireframes or concepts, design, revisions, and final delivery. You have input at every stage.

What is the typical turnaround time?

Most projects take 2-4 weeks depending on scope. Simpler work like landing pages can be faster; larger builds take longer. We confirm timelines before starting.

How many revisions are included?

All projects include two rounds of revisions as standard. Additional rounds can be arranged if needed.

What file formats do you deliver?

We deliver source files in their native format (e.g. Figma, PSD, AI) plus production-ready exports such as PDF, PNG, SVG, or deployed code depending on the project.

How should I brief you on my project?

Use our contact form or email us with a summary of what you need, your target audience, any brand guidelines, and your timeline. We will follow up with any questions.
