Foam board or foamex?
Two materials cover nearly every job. Foam board is light and cheap for indoor boards that need to last a few weeks. Foamex is solid PVC, stiffer and tougher, for boards that get handled, fixed to a wall or used outside.
5mm foam board
A foam core between two smooth paper faces. Light, rigid and the usual choice for indoor boards that need to last a few weeks.
3mm foamex
Solid PVC sheet. Stiffer and tougher than foam board, wipes clean and hangs flat on a wall or in a window.
5mm foamex
Thicker PVC for boards that get handled, screwed to a wall or used outside. 5mm foamex can be used outdoors. We recommend lamination for outdoor use, but it is not necessary.
Matt or gloss lamination
Matt kills glare under conference lighting. Gloss lifts the colour on photos and artwork. Both protect the print.

Why print your boards locally
A foam board does not travel well. Corners dent in a courier van and a board ordered online on Monday can still be in a depot on Thursday. Printing it in Glasgow means you can see the proof on screen, collect it the same afternoon and carry it to the venue yourself.

What is the difference between foam board and foamex?
Foam board is a foam core between two paper faces. It is light and suits indoor use for a few weeks. Foamex is solid PVC sheet, so it is heavier, stiffer and does not dent. It can be drilled, screwed and used outside. 5mm foamex can be used outdoors, and we recommend lamination for outdoor use, but it is not necessary. Yes, when we print it. Send us the file and we print and mount it in one go, onto 5mm foam board or foamex, trimmed flush, with matt or gloss lamination if you want the print protected. We do not mount or laminate prints made elsewhere. 5mm foamex is A2 £40, A1 £55, B1 £70 and A0 £105, all inc VAT, and other sizes are quoted within the hour.
How big can a foam board be?
We print foam board and foamex from A3 up to B1 (707 x 1000mm) and A0 (841 x 1189mm), plus custom sizes cut to your measurements. If you need something larger we can join panels or move you onto a rigid board, so tell us the finished size.
Do you do same-day foam board printing?
Yes. Send a print-ready PDF by 11am Monday to Friday and your board is printed, laminated if needed and ready the same day. Files that arrive later, or bigger runs of boards, take 2 to 3 working days.
Can I collect it or do you deliver?
Both. Collect from our studio at 36-38 Washington Street, Glasgow G3 8AZ, any day by arrangement, call 0141 345 5841 to agree a time. Or we courier to Glasgow postcodes G1 to G77, free on orders over £50. Boards can also go to your venue or stand by arrangement.
