The Thai, and the print that goes with it
One restaurant rebuild we can show you in full, and why a restaurant website from a studio that also prints is a different job.
The Thai is a bar and restaurant in Shawlands, Glasgow. Its old WordPress site served the menu as a PDF. We rebuilt thethai.uk as a statically generated Next.js site with 42 dishes across nine sections as real HTML, each with description, price and allergen labels, filters for vegetarian, mild or no spice and eleven allergen exclusions, Menu and Restaurant structured data, and bookings taken on the site itself with a staff diary behind them. The brand came off the printed menu rather than being invented: navy and gold, so the site and the room match.
That last point is the part a web agency cannot offer. Our menu design is from £49 a page and menu printing is from £45 for 25 A4 menus on our own press on Washington Street, so the menu on the table, the table talkers and the window graphics are built from the same file as the website. One brand, one supplier, one invoice.

Restaurant Website Design, common questions
Straight answers about our restaurant website design service.
How much does a restaurant website cost in Glasgow?
A brochure site with your menu built as HTML starts at £1,499. A site with a content management system, so you can change dishes and prices yourself, starts at £3,499. If you already have a site and want it replaced, a redesign with your content migrated starts at £3,000. A bespoke build with your own booking diary and staff admin starts at £8,000. Every project gets a fixed written quote before work starts, and all prices include VAT.
Why not just upload the menu as a PDF?
A PDF is a file, not a page. Search engines cannot read it as a menu, phones display it badly, and every price change means a new upload. When we rebuilt thethai.uk for The Thai in Shawlands, we replaced a PDF-only menu with 42 dishes across nine sections as real HTML, each with its description, price and allergen labels, plus Menu structured data so Google reads it as a menu. The PDF is still linked for anyone who wants it, it is just no longer the only version.
Can we take bookings without a third-party widget?
Yes. On The Thai, bookings are taken on the site itself: availability is computed from the restaurant tables held in Postgres, guests amend or cancel from a link in their confirmation, and staff work the diary in an admin area. Reservations arriving by email from First Table are parsed onto the same diary, so there is one list rather than two. If you are happy with your current booking system we keep it and embed it instead.
Will we lose our Google rankings if we rebuild the site?
Not if the migration is done properly. We record every URL that ranks before we start and redirect each old one to its new equivalent. For The Thai that meant 28 blog posts moved off WordPress behind 25 redirect rules covering post URLs, category and author archives, RSS feeds and the old menu PDF, so no old link was left to 404.
Can you print our menus to match the website?
Yes, in-house on Washington Street. Menu design is from £49 a page and A4 menus on 250gsm silk are from £45 for 25, with wipe-clean lamination available. Table talkers and DL drinks lists come off the same press, and window graphics are supplied to the same brand file. Our menu printing page lists every size and quantity.
Can we update dishes and prices ourselves?
On the £3,499 tier and above, yes, through a content management system your team can use. On the brochure tier the menu is typed data we update for you, and small changes are quick. Either way a price change should never mean waiting on a designer.
What does the design process look like?
We start with a brief to understand your goals, then move through research, wireframes or concepts, design, revisions, and final delivery. You have input at every stage.
What is the typical turnaround time?
Most projects take 2-4 weeks depending on scope. Simpler work like landing pages can be faster; larger builds take longer. We confirm timelines before starting.
How many revisions are included?
All projects include two rounds of revisions as standard. Additional rounds can be arranged if needed.
What file formats do you deliver?
We deliver source files in their native format (e.g. Figma, PSD, AI) plus production-ready exports such as PDF, PNG, SVG, or deployed code depending on the project.
How should I brief you on my project?
