New year, new menu: January sale signage and menu refreshes for Glasgow venues

19 September 2026By Chris Watson6 min read

TL;DR

If you want sale signage or a January menu on the wall before we reopen on Tuesday 5 January 2027, order it in December and collect by Wednesday 23 December. A3 sale posters are £3.99, £2.50 each from ten; A4 menus are £45 for 25. Order menus, cards or vouchers in November or December and the design file is free for January work booked before 19 December.

January is the quietest month for most Glasgow venues and the busiest for anyone selling things off. Either way, what goes on the wall and in the window on 27 December was printed before Christmas, because we are closed from Thursday 24 December to Monday 4 January inclusive and we reopen on Tuesday 5 January 2027 at 9am. This post is about using December to set January up: sale signage, a menu refresh and the two digital jobs that only ever get done in the quiet weeks. Prices are inclusive of VAT. The New Year printing page has the short version.

January sale signage: the pieces and the prices

For a shop, a sale is posters and window. A3 posters are £3.99 each, or £2.50 each from ten, printed in-house on the Xerox press, so a set of ten "SALE" and "50% off" sheets for the rails is £25. Larger posters for the window come off the Epson: A2 is £30, A1 is £40 and A0 is £50, with £5 off each from two. A pair of A1s for a double-fronted window is £70. Poster sizes and finishes are on the posters page.

Printed window vinyl is the more permanent option and is outsourced, so it has the earliest date: order by Friday 11 December at 12 noon. An A2 vinyl panel is £49 and an A1 panel is £89. If your Christmas window included the opening hours decal, the January version is the same product: a white decal up to 400mm wide, £35, with the January hours and the sale dates. A full custom window graphic is quoted within the working day.

One honest note on signage that has to be up on Boxing Day: it needs to be collected by Wednesday 23 December at 12 noon, subject to press time, so phone 0141 345 5841 first. In-house posters we post have a last order of Friday 18 December at 1pm. And for a Hogmanay or New Year's Day event, the same rule applies; there is no printing between Christmas Eve and 5 January.

The January menu refresh

Restaurants and bars go the other way in January: fewer covers, a smaller menu, a lunch deal or a two-courses offer to bring people in. A menu reprint is the same product and price as the festive one. A4, flat or folded to A5, on 250gsm silk is £45 for 25, £75 for 50, £120 for 100 and £199 for 250. A5 flat is £35 for 25. A DL card for a January offer or a new drinks list is £30 for 25. Lamination, matt or gloss and wipe-clean, adds £15 on 25 or £40 on 100. Turnaround is 2 to 3 working days, same week guaranteed on orders placed by Wednesday 1pm, and that applies from the first week back. Everything is on the menu printing page.

If the January menu is finalised before Christmas, order it with the last festive reprint and collect both by 23 December; it saves a trip and it is on the tables the day you reopen. If it is not, order it in the first week of January and it is with you the same week. Table talkers for a January offer are £35 for 25 on 350gsm.

The free design file, and the date it depends on

Here is the offer that makes the December-for-January plan pay. Any customer who orders menus, cards or vouchers from us in November or December gets their design file supplied free when they book January work before 19 December. January work means a January menu reprint, sale signage, a booking website or a website refresh. In practice: if we designed your Christmas menu for £49 or £99, or your cards, or your vouchers, and you book the January menu or the signage or a site with us before 19 December, the editable file is yours to keep and reuse.

That matters more than it sounds, because a menu file you own is a menu you can change in-house every month without paying for design again. The date is 19 December because that is the last day we can confirm a January slot before the studio closes for Christmas.

The two digital jobs January is for

The first is a booking website. If Christmas was a fortnight of phone calls, deposits by bank transfer and a spreadsheet of party bookings, a site that takes the booking and the deposit itself is the thing to fix before next December. It is £40 to £80 a month, January launch slots are sold in December, and it is live within a fortnight of the January start. The venues who book it in December are the ones taking Valentine's bookings online in the last week of January.

The second is a website refresh for venues and shops whose site has not changed since it was built. A New Year website refresh is from £1,500; a 20% deposit in December secures a January slot and the work runs January to February 2027. If the brand needs the same treatment, a brand refresh for 2027 is from £1,500 and is delivered in January. Both are existing products with a proper scoping call first, so the December deposit is the booking, not a guess at the price.

A December timetable for a January start

First week of December: decide the January menu or the sale dates, and order any window vinyl, because it has to be in by Friday 11 December. Second week: book the January work, whether a menu reprint, signage, a booking site or a refresh, before 19 December, and claim the design file. Third week: order the in-house print, posters and menus, with collection agreed for Wednesday 23 December at the latest. Then close for Christmas knowing the January wall is already printed and sitting in a tube behind the counter.

Emails are answered from Tuesday 29 December, so a question over the break will get a reply, but nothing prints until Tuesday 5 January. From that morning the usual line applies: phone 0141 345 5841 for same-day or next-day and we confirm the timeline and the price on the call. Delivery is free across Central Scotland on orders over £50 and a same-day courier is £5 in the city centre and £15 elsewhere in Glasgow. Collection from Washington Street in Glasgow or Cadzow Street in Hamilton is by arrangement. The rest of the seasonal range is on the Christmas printing hub.

Order the January signage or menu in December, collect by 23 December, and it is on the wall the morning you reopen.

New Year printing

Key Takeaways

  • We close Thursday 24 December to Monday 4 January; nothing prints until Tuesday 5 January at 9am, so Boxing Day and Hogmanay signage must be collected by 23 December.
  • A3 sale posters are £3.99, or £2.50 each from ten; A2 £30, A1 £40, A0 £50, with £5 off each from two.
  • A January menu reprint is the same price as the Christmas one: A4 from £45 for 25, with lamination from £15.
  • Book January work before 19 December and any menu, card or voucher design file we made for you in November or December is supplied free.
  • January is when a booking website (£40 to £80 a month) or a website refresh (from £1,500, 20% deposit in December) actually gets done.
