We reopen after Christmas on Tuesday 5 January 2027 at 9am, so there are two sensible windows: send the menu before we close on Wednesday 23 December and it is first on the press in January, or order in the first January week and it is ready that week. Two windows to order, one clear week
Menus, programmes and posters are an in-house job, so the timeline is ours to keep. Standard turnaround is 2 to 3 working days from artwork sign-off, and anything approved by Wednesday 1pm is guaranteed for that week. Before Christmas, by Wednesday 23 December
Send the menu and running order before we close. It is proofed, queued and first through the press when we reopen on Tuesday 5 January 2027.
First January week, by Wednesday 6 January 1pm
Approve the proof by Wednesday 1pm and the menus are printed, laminated if ordered, and packed that week, a fortnight clear of the night.
Last safe date, Wednesday 13 January 1pm

What we print for a Burns supper
Every format on the same 250gsm silk and the same press, so the menu, the whisky list, the programme and the place cards all match. Table talkers and place cards go on 350gsm so they stand.
Burns supper menu
A4 flat or folded to A5 on 250gsm silk. The courses on one side, the running order and the toasts on the other, so one card does two jobs on the table.
Whisky and drinks list
DL card for the whisky flight, the toast dram and the wine, sized to sit in the holder you already have. From £30 for 25.
Programme and running order
The speakers, the toasts, the songs and who is giving them, as a DL card or an A5 folded programme. Quoted within the working day, because the page count and stock decide the price.
Place cards and table plan
Tent-fold place cards on 350gsm and an A2 or A1 table plan for the door. Send the guest list as a spreadsheet and we set the names. Quoted within the working day.
Table talkers
350gsm, creased to stand. The Selkirk Grace for guests to follow, the words of Auld Lang Syne, or a QR code for the charity raffle. From £35 for 25.

Same prices as the rest of the year, all inclusive of VAT. Menus are 250gsm silk, printed double-sided, flat or folded. Table talkers are 350gsm. Lamination is an add-on to any menu row and is worth having if the same cards are out for a run of suppers across the month.

A typical Burns supper running order
The order most Burns clubs, hotels and restaurants follow. Put it on the programme with the speakers named, or on the back of the menu, and the room knows when to stand, when to toast and when to sing.
Piping in the guests
Guests are piped to their seats, or the host simply welcomes the room. The chair says a few words about the night and the charity if there is one.
The Selkirk Grace
"Some hae meat and canna eat, and some wad eat that want it." Four lines, said before the meal. Print it on the menu so the whole room can join in.
Piping in the haggis
The room stands. The haggis is carried in behind the piper, with the chef and the whisky bearer following, and set down in front of the speaker.
Address to a Haggis
Burns’ poem, recited with the knife drawn at "An’ cut you up wi’ ready slicht". A toast to the haggis with a dram, then the meal is served.
The meal
Soup, then haggis, neeps and tatties, then pudding and cheese. The menu card lists it, and the whisky list sits beside it.
The Immortal Memory
The main speech of the night, on the life and work of Robert Burns, ending with the toast "To the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns". Name the speaker on the programme.
Toast to the Lassies, and the Reply
Two short, good-humoured speeches, one from each side of the room. Both speakers go on the programme, in that order.
Songs and recitations
Tam o’ Shanter, To a Mouse, A Red, Red Rose, Ae Fond Kiss, A Man’s a Man for A’ That. List them so guests know when to settle and when to sing.
Vote of thanks and Auld Lang Syne
The chair thanks the speakers, the kitchen and the piper, then the room stands, joins hands and sings. Print the verses on the back of the menu or on a table talker.
What to put on the menu
The dishes most Burns supper menus carry, and where each piece of information sits so the card reads well at a candlelit table.
To start
Cock-a-leekie, Scotch broth or Cullen skink, with oatcakes or a bread roll. One line each, and the vegetarian option named rather than implied.
The haggis course
Haggis, neeps and tatties, with a whisky sauce if the kitchen makes one. Add the vegetarian haggis as its own line and say whether the neeps and tatties are mashed or roasted.
Pudding
Cranachan (raspberries, cream, toasted oats, honey and whisky), clootie dumpling with custard, or Tipsy Laird, the Scottish trifle. Then Scottish cheese and oatcakes if the night runs long.
Drinks and the toasts
The toast dram, a whisky flight if you sell one, wine by the glass and a soft option. Put these on the DL drinks list rather than crowding the menu.
The back of the card
The Selkirk Grace, the running order with speakers named, and the first verse and chorus of Auld Lang Syne. This is the side guests keep.
Allergens and the small print
A line saying allergen information is available from staff, the price per head if tickets are still on sale, and the charity the raffle supports. Small type at the foot, not a paragraph.

Who holds a Burns supper
Restaurants and hotels run the supper as a ticketed night, so the menu doubles as the programme and the A3 poster goes in the window from the first week of January. Pubs and clubs keep it simpler: a DL whisky list, a table talker with the Selkirk Grace and a poster for the quiz-night crowd. Burns clubs and societies want a proper programme with the speakers named and place cards for the top table. Schools print a running order for the Scots poetry evening, and workplaces order a menu and a table plan for the staff supper.

When is Burns Night 2027, and when should I order?
Burns Night is Monday 25 January 2027, and most suppers run on the Friday or Saturday either side of it. Menus, programmes and posters are printed in-house in 2 to 3 working days, and any order placed by Wednesday 1pm is guaranteed the same week. Wednesday 13 January at 1pm is the last order that leaves a clear week before the night. Later than that, phone 0141 345 5841 and we confirm the timeline and the price on the call.
Can I order Burns Night printing before Christmas?
Yes, and it is the calmest way to do it. The studio is closed from Thursday 24 December to Monday 4 January inclusive and reopens Tuesday 5 January 2027 at 9am. Send the menu and the running order before the last collection date of Wednesday 23 December and the job is proofed, queued and first on the press the morning we reopen. If you ordered Christmas menus from us, the January work starts from the file we already hold.
What goes on a Burns supper menu?
The courses, usually soup, then haggis with neeps and tatties, then cranachan or clootie dumpling, with the vegetarian haggis named as its own line. Most venues use the back of the card for the Selkirk Grace, the running order with the speakers named, and the words of Auld Lang Syne, so guests have everything they need on one A4 folded to A5. The whisky list goes on a separate DL card.
How much does a Burns supper menu cost to print?
An A4 menu printed double-sided on 250gsm silk, flat or folded to A5, is £45 for 25, £75 for 50, £120 for 100 and £199 for 250. A5 flat menus are £35 for 25 and a DL whisky list is £30 for 25. Matt or gloss lamination adds £15 on 25. All prices include VAT and the menus are printed in-house in Glasgow.
Do you print programmes, running orders and place cards?
Yes. A programme is usually a DL card or an A5 folded card listing the speakers, toasts and songs in order, and place cards are tent-folded on 350gsm with the names set from your spreadsheet. Neither has a fixed price because page count, stock and the number of names decide it, so send the details and we quote within the working day.
Can you design the menu and programme as well as print them?
Yes. Menu design is £49 for a single page and £99 for a folded or multi-page menu, with two rounds of changes, a print-ready PDF and a web image for the venue website and socials, delivered in 3 working days. Send the dishes, the running order and your logo as text and we lay it out. The same file becomes the programme, the poster and the place cards.
How do I promote a Burns supper?
An A3 poster in the window and one behind the bar from the first week of January, at £3.99 each or £2.50 each from ten, flyers on the tables at £25 for 200, and the menu as a web image on your booking page. Posters and flyers are printed in-house the same week. If you want a roller banner for the door, that is an outsourced finish at £69 and needs 4 to 5 working days, so order it in the first January week.
